Tappan Zee Bridge/I-287 Environmental Review

Transit Mode Selection Report, May 2009

The Transit Mode Selection Report documents the analysis performed that compares Commuter Rail Transit (CRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and recommends the mode(s) that best meet goals and objectives of the Project Purpose and Need. It also identifies significant differentiators and the major issues associated with the modes under consideration. Full corridor BRT from Suffern to Port Chester and CRT from Suffern to a direct connection with the Hudson Line with service to Grand Central Terminal is recommended.

The outcome of these recommendations will now help determine the alternative configurations and methodologies for assessment in the DEIS.
More information about alternatives and methodologies used can be found in the February 2008 Scoping Update Packet and the Scoping Summary Report, May 2009.
