Tappan Zee Bridge/I-287 Environmental Review

Transit, Highway and Bridge Option Recommendations

Over the last 12 months, the project team has evaluated a series of proposed options in order to define the bridge, highway and transit alignments (routes) of the Project’s build alternatives. Additionally, the team evaluated several possible configurations for the bridge.

Options reflected the results of detailed engineering and environmental studies. In addition, options were based on extensive public feedback received in a series of Municipal and Public Working Meetings held in the fall of 2009, and Open Houses held in the summer of 2010, as well as innumerable interactions with stakeholders throughout the region, including residents; state, county and local officials; and representatives of various organizations and agencies.

The project team presented the consultants’ most recent recommendations and an update on the financial study at several meetings held in Westchester and Rockland Counties last fall, including the October 2010 Rockland County Summit (Suffern, NY) and the Joint Stakeholder Committee/SAWG meeting (Tarrytown, NY).
